My 5 Biggest Purchase Regrets As A New Mother

7/24/2019

As I go through the process of trying to rid my life of things that I no longer need I am surrounded by lots of things that I purchased in anticipation of my newborn that looking back almost 3 years later I never used or hardly used.

Here are my 5 top purchase regrets:

  1. Wipe Warmer:  I hate to say it because my mom told me we didn’t need it and other mothers told me not to do it but I vowed I was going to be different.  I had wipe warmer at every diaper changing station in my house (which is something I totally agree with if you can afford it—by the way).  I only used two of them—the one by my bedside and the one downstairs and even then the seals were never good and I felt like the wipes dried out too quickly.  So my recommendation is that if it’s on your registry or you are thinking of giving it as a gift.  SAVE YOUR MONEY
  2. Butt Paste:  Hardly ever used it.  I relied heavily on changing diapers quickly and often and also using aquaphor and Triple Antibiotic Ointment (TAO).  The butt paste these days are not like they used to be back when my mom was changing my diaper.  The whole idea of the butt paste is to stay on as a barrier protectant.  These days they wipe off too easily and I was always having to reapply.  So, I needed up switching to good old Aquaphor and Triple Antibiotic ointment.
  3. Pacifiers:  The little bugger never used them.  I tried all different types and models.  I think if you baby is a pacifier user they will use them but mind just didn’t.  ANYONE WANT ANY??? I have at least 10.
  4. Baby Clothes:  What was I thinking!!!!  I had all these different outfits for my little one but truthfully he spend most of his time in onesies.  If I ever did this again I would stock up on white onesies and call it a day.  Now, a friend did say that I probably would feel differently if I had had a daughter and she’s probably right.  Boys clothes are just so unimaginative.
  5. Q-Tips and Cotton Balls:  I NEVER EVER EVER EVER USED THEM.  I stocked up on these things and never found a use for my baby.  Luckily I use the cotton balls now in my “No Water” Facial Cleansing Routine and the Q-Tips for eyeliner mistakes on the rare occasion I use eyeliner so they didn’t go to waste but its taken me almost three years to use them up.

Hope this list is helpful on saving you from traveling down the road I did but if you are anything like me you might just do what I did.  Read them, chuckle, and say…”I’ll be different she just didn’t know what she was doing” LOL! 😂🤦🏾‍♀️😂
